Welcome... Larkwood Labs Software is currently developing software tools and components that will allow anybody with access to the internet to send and receive multicast data streams from hosts that have no native multicast support or are located in an isolated multicast-enabled site. There are a number of applications that use or can benefit from the use of multicast data distribution. However, many applications have not been able to do so because they have no multicast connectivity beyond the local network. We have developed a solution that uses Automatic Multicast Tunneling (AMT), an encapsulation protocol that uses unicast messages to carry multicast packets to and from remote multicast enabled-networks. This protocol is primarily intended for use in source-specific multicast (SSM) applications, but can also be used for any-source multicast (ASM). We have successfully demonstrated an AMT-based solution for receiving multicast media presentations and are busy working to expand the capabilities of our software. You can go here to see a working demonstration of the product. We are just getting started, so check back soon for news and updates. Thanks! Greg Bumgardner gregb@larkwoodlabs.com |
